To celebrate the release of the hilarious animated adventure, Despicable Me 2, on DVD and Blu-ray on 25th November, Scrivens Opticians have called on the stars of the film, the mischievous Minions - famous for their goggle specs - to help encourage parents to take their children for regular eye tests.
From the 20thNovember 2013, parents will be able to ensure their little ones’ eyesight is in good hands with the ‘Minion Approved’ eye test, available at all 146 Scrivens Opticians branches in the UK. As part of the limited edition sight test, children will receive an exclusive certificate to prove their eye test was approved by the fun-loving Minions. For those kids needing specs, Scrivens’ full children’s range of glasses will also be receiving special treatment, thanks to the Minions offering their official stamp of approval to the entire collection.
Figures from the Health & Social Care Information Centre* show that eye examination rates among under 15s have fallen to a 10 year low. If unchecked, poor eyesight can affect children’s education as well as their overall development, so the loveable Minions are keen to raise awareness of the importance of regular check-ups.
As part of the Minion takeover, which is running in-stores nationwide until Christmas, Scrivens Opticians is also offering grown-ups a discount in order to encourage the whole family to look after their eyesight together. Therefore, any parent who brings their own little one in for a Minion approved test will receive a mighty 50% off their own standard sight test.
Plus, if that wasn’t enough, by booking a ‘Minion Approved’ eye test customers can enter a prize draw to win a UK family adventure break** where the kids will train to be secret agents like Gru and Lucy in Despicable Me 2, or a copy of the film on 3D Blu-ray™.
Paul Sidhu, Optometrist at Scrivens said, “Here at Scrivens we’re very excited to be working with the mischievous little Minions from Despicable Me 2, who are favourites with all the family. We want to create an adventure in store which children will remember and take away with them. Ultimately, we’re encouraging kids and parents alike to have an enjoyable experience that will inspire them to return and have regular eye checks, to help keep their eyes healthy for life.”
Don’t miss the chance to see the army of Minions in action, as this winter’s must-watch family blockbuster, Despicable Me 2 is released just in time for Christmas on 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD with UltraViolet copy from 25th November and on Digital Download from 18th November from Universal Pictures (UK), available to pre-order now!
