THE LITTLE BOOK OF MONARCHS

Can you name all the Kings and Queens of England?

‘The Little Book of Monarchs’ is probably the most concise English history book ever published. It swiftly sorts out all those Edwards, Henrys and Georges, all the major battles, rebellions and bizarre deaths across ten turbulent centuries.

The author Tony Boullemier has vividly summed up all 42 rulers of England since 1066 and condensed each reign into five key bullet points. Every ruler is illustrated by a clever cartoon that will stick in the memory.

The Little Book Of Monarchs is for younger readers, aged 10 +, The Little Book of Monarchs will provide a chronological narrative order, giving a firm foundation for future history studies. For students and older readers, it will be an indispensable reference book a short and snappy aide memoire to our bloody and glorious past. For everyone, it is our history with a smile on its face!

As a child history wasn't one of my top subjects where as my son Callum loves history and has been covering a lot of topics over the last couple of weeks, we was sent The Little Book of Monarch to review and Callum has found it very useful at school and at home whilst doing his home work.
Callum loves the fact that there isn't a lot of writing to read which some children can find rather daunting, there are some pictures on each page which Callum found rather funny so id say he really did enjoy reading this book.

The book has 11 chapters each is set from The Normans, The House of York, The Tudors and The Windsors.

THE LITTLE BOOK OF MONARCHS is priced at £7.99 and written by Tony Boullemier illustrated by Adrian Teal and is based on English History with a smile on its face.

Winter is good for your soul

As we approach winter, people across the UK bid goodbye to their flip flops for another year and brace themselves for the onset of the cold British weather.  For many sun worshippers, this is a gloomy time of year, as the nights draw in early and mornings become darker.  However, the cold also brings with it a whole host of opportunities to cosy up and spend some quality ‘me’ time.  Megaflo, the hot water specialists, are here to show us why we should love winter.

‘Tis the season to drink hot chocolate
Whether you drink it on its own, smothered with whipped cream, adorned with fluffy marshmallows or even with a nip of your favourite liqueur for that extra kick, hot chocolate is the drink of winter.  Warming, wholesome and comforting, there’s nothing quite like it after a long day or on a chilly weekend.  The perfect, guilt-free excuse to spoil yourself!

A bath a day keeps the chills away

Winter means keeping warm and cosy and there’s no better way to soak away your chills and worries than taking a nice, long, hot bath.  Whether it’s a romantic affair by candlelight, some fun time splashing with the kids or simply some relaxing alone time, a bath will leave you feeling fabulous, so embrace the cold season and get bathing!
A date with your sofa
All the best TV series start in winter – Strictly Come Dancing and X Factor to name just two, not to mention the new series of Homeland, so what better excuse to stay in, hit the sofa and let yourself be entertained.

Hotwater bottles, slipper socks and dressing gowns…
Everyone loves snuggling up in their ‘comfies’ and let’s face it – what better time to do it than in winter.  So think chunky slipper socks, ugg boots, dressing gowns, hot water bottles and fleecy blankets and embrace the warmth!

It’s nearly Christmas!
The start of winter marks the official countdown to Christmas and the party season.  Whether you’re picking out your Christmas outfit, eating your first mince pie of the season, enjoying the fairy lights, sipping mulled wine or planning your Christmas party, it’s the most exciting time of year and it only happens in – you guessed it – winter.
Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

There’s nothing that brings more excitement than waking to a winter wonderland, covered in snow.  Though the UK climate is unpredictable at the best of times, it’s the winter which brings the promise of sledging, building a snowman and snowball fights!
Fireworks
Whether for Diwali, Bonfire Night, Christmas or New Year’s Eve, winter celebrations mean fireworks and the time of year when the night’s sky is lit up with all the colours of the  rainbow.  Love them or hate them, there’s no denying, they are the perfect way to enjoy the great outdoors, so wrap up warm and get out there.

My girls were sent a Magic Milly Duplex Doll house to review from the lovely people at The Early learning Centre. My girls were so excited when it arrived they haven't had a huge doll house before so they were rather excited about playing with it.
When I opened the box there we lots of pieces and lots of screws I couldn't help but dread the thought of putting it together as I am no good at any kind of DIY or any thing to do with screws, so I had a good read of the instructions and placed all the pieces out on the floor. After a good hour or so I had finally put it all together I must admit it was hard but I got there in the end and felt a little proud of my self. The thought it was a little dolls house so they let out a big wow once they saw how big it actually was.
Magic Milly dolls house is suitable for ages 3+  which is just the right age for both my girls, the only down side is you don't get and dolls with the house but it does state on the box dolls are not included. Michaela and Davina have had so much fun playing with it there's so much room inside leaving plenty of arm space.
Its made of wood and is excellent quality and a great value for money.

The Magic part of the house is the pull slide located at the back of the house which allows your children to change the scene from day to night
Magic Milly Duplex Dolls house is price at £100 and is worth every penny I would definitely recommend it to any little girl who loves doll house and enjoys lots of imaginative play.
The Magic Dolly Duplex doll's house has been finished with a cool modern design, with a balcony for your little one's dolls to relax on and a stylish set of stairs that lead to the top floor.

We enjoyed our Bonfire night this year tucking in to lots of yummy foods including a delicious Spoilt pig sausage and Denhay bacon Casserole, what a perfect way to keep us warm. I was sent a Bonfire Banger box from the lovely people at Denhay farm to create my very own Bonfire dish. The contents provided in the box could be used for a warming winter Casserole, and all day breakfast with and adult chilli kick.
On Bonfire night we go to my mums to enjoy the fireworks as a family, we would sit out in the garden with a hot chocolate, hot dogs, and burgers whilst the jacket potatoes wrapped in foil cooked in the oven.
But this year thanks to Denhay farm we got to enjoy a Spoilt pig sausage and Denhay bacon casserole accompanied by mash potatoes and baby carrots and mushy pea.
Also added to the casserole was caramelised onions, Eat 17 chilli bacon jam, Tacklements spiced Honey Mustard, Spicy Tomato sauce, sausage casserole sauce.
Having not made this dish before I wasn't quite sure if the children would like it but they did everyone enjoyed the sausages they were excellent quality and packed with delicious flavours, but theDenhay bacon was everyone's favourite. My favourite was the sage and onion Spoilt pig sausages and the bacon.  I wasn't to sure about the Chilli bacon jam and Spiced  Honey at first but it really did work well with dish added warmth from the chilli.
